I wouldn't take the stuff they gave me. Pink eye should clear up by itself. and if the pink eye kills doesn't kill you, the meds they gave you for it will.

Well like I said, I didn't think it was pink eye and in fact it wasn't. It was just an infection.

but as for stuff going on lately, here is the next episode of phases journal home hehe.

hehe quite an interesting experience. This week has pretty much been a lot of walking around and contacting new people since my companions old comp kinda just died before he left. Was cool having 6 investigators at church that I had never seen or taught before hehe.

So in the capital area we take cars to get everywhere, costs about 15 pesos to go anywhere and another 15 to get back. So we went to the store to pick up supplies for the week and on the way back we had a bunch of big bags. Well these cars are made for 5 people but of course being dominicans try and fit 7 people in, 4 in the back and 3 in the front including the driver. The driver tried to make us pay for 3 seats because of our bags, I told him no and to stop being retarted because another person can fit in. So another one walks up to my door and says, "hey, you wanna pay for 2 people?" I of course responded No and he yells to the driver, "yeah he said he'll pay for 2" By this time I'm about tired of dominicans being stupid so I tell the driver, "ok, I'm only going to say this once more, I'm not going to pay for 2 tickets, and this retard over here thinks we don't know spanish and can't understand him when he said I would pay for 2." It pretty much shut them all up and another dominican finally came and got in the car. I just kinda laughed under my breath the entire time at the dude who didn't think we knew spanish.

After a nice long days of work we were walking back and walked into a store to grab some butter and other supplies. Low and behold they were watching Gremlins. So of course we had to watch for a bit hehe. Gotta love american influences over the world. Nothing pleases me more than seeing a "made in the USA" sign on something hehe.

Nothing quite like a dominican Christmas conference. Only here would you see a girl yelling, "woof woof" durring a missionary meeting and while cheering LoL. Makes me grateful to be serving a mission and experiencing all this stuff I would never experience anywhere else.

Also apparently my last zone is famous in the mission hehe. That's all they wanted to talk about at the conference. I loved hearing all the rumors and stories that were started, I set a few straight and let others go because I got lazy hehe. Most of the Elders wants to go to my last area. We had some good times down there in Barahona hehe.

I've certainly been blessed with the language. I can comunicate more fluently than all the other americans I came into the mission with, and they had spanish classes in school pfft :P I also now have 2 dominican room mates. Dominicans are certainly much different than americans hehe.
Another short story

Forgot to tell this fun one. So my companion was talking with the presidents wife and she asked, "so elder, do they sell any fresh fruit where you are?"

he replies, "yes, but I wouldn't eat it if my life depended on it..."

Pres's Wife: "why is that elder?"

Companion: "because they sell it off the floor of the street..."

Pres's wife: "I find that hard to believe elder"

Companion: "ask whoever you want hehe"

I was just thinking the entire time, "wow.....she has no idea what goes on in her mission. I wonder if she's even gone outside her house...."

Well it has been a very interesting past week. However I dont really want to write down all the stories now that Iīve told them all to my parents in the phone call lol.

So we donīt actually get invited to many dinners here because people donīt have a lot of money. Then all the sudden the 23rd we have 5 people invite us for dinner on the 24th. We unfortunately already have dinner plans scheduled for 9 PM on the 24th. Alas, my companion gives into one lady because she was giving him a guilt trip and whatnot. After he told me I imagined all the horror stories other missionaries and Seminary teachers have told me about having to eat 3-4 meals in a night, most of it being rice. But we only have 2 and I figured I could do that. We then start off the day doing a few short lessons and walk into a house at 7 PM, we have the first dinner at 8 PM. Lo and behold they bring out drinks for us. I think, "ok, I can handle a drink and 2 meals" So we have even told them weīre going to a dinner after this short lesson and they say hehe, thatīs not important. All the sudden she brings out a meal fit for 4 people and all of them have already eaten. My companion and I manage to finish about 2 portions of it and tell them we have to go because itīs 8 PM by then.

At the next dinner she had prepared enough food to feed an army, of course most of it being rice witch fills you up nice and quickly....I swear, everytime I said I had enough she put twice as much on. By the time we got out of there my companion and I were both stuffed, and the next dinner we had set at 9 PM was supposed to be the biggest and best tasting one.... We pushed on however and had the opurtinty to cook food in huge old fryers like they have behind burgerking or whatnot, except bigger hehe.

My companion had just cleaned his plate for the 3rd dinner and said he was feeling sick from all the food. At this dinner we are eating with chinese people (the dominicans are very prejudece* against the chinese here) You can also imagine the improved manners the chinese have and the insult it would be to not finish all their food, so we pretty much had to finish it all. We could both feel the food in our throats, however I still had 2 peices of fish left on my plate and I donīt even like fish.... When my companion happened to look up from his plate I quickly slipped one of the fish on his plate, when he looked down he had utter horror, anger, and sadness on his face. He was going to give in and try and eat it. He then saw me trying to hold back histerical laughter and realized I had done it. He thought at first he didnīt finish, or the lady put another peice on his plate hehe. They then brought out dessert, however I didnīt have a problem finishing that LoL. I couldnīt believe we had pulled it off, 3 HUGE dinners in less than 3 hours. Both our stomaches hurt that night and we didnīt really eat much until dinner the next day.
Oh, and Iīll hop in vent every other wednesday or so if you want wolfy.

First off this country is a blast and I love these dominican people. It was also fun being able to talk to my family last week. Glad to hear everyone is doing well, except maybe the poor little lexus hehe.

To start things off these past few days havenīt been filled with a lot of work since everyone around here seems to be drunk at the moment. We even had a P-day changed to tuesday for this week because the president didnīt want us preaching to a bunch of people with hang overs today and then having a p-day the day after. I would have been alright with the change if he didnīt tell us the night before at 11 PM...Oh well, just made it into a P-day eve and new years eve hehe.

Ok, to go back into the week we were teaching this lady who has lots of good questions and looks like she would progress, however we finally met her husband who is probably a good 20 years older than her...He apparently used to be a member and actually a high priest. However he thought we broke off from the catholic church and that his religion now, the 7th day venists* (I have no idea how to spell that) broke off from us, he also had some other strange beliefs and whatnot. Now my last comp knew a lot about the scriptures so I naturally know quite a bit now, I thought about utterly destroying his beliefs and whatnot but his wife and another family was sitting right there and I didnīt think that would bode to well with them hehe. Itīs interesting how people lose their knowledge of the gospel after they leave the church.

Along with that story we were talking about jahovaīs witnesses that night (my companion and I) and were talking about that guy and that he once held the priesthood, the power of god, and now who knows what. My companion then said, maybe his newfound power is better... lets ask vador (he had gotten a talking vador thing for christmas). So we touch vador and he says, If you only knew the power of the darkside... Needless to say we both stared at each other a little suprised and then both broke out laughing.

We had another temple day on the 28th. Itīs always nice heading there and doing that stuff. Somehow after the session my companion and I ended up with 6 Sister missionaries coming with us to Wendyīs haha. Guess weīre just that good ;)
At Wendys our zone leaders showed up and another pair of missionaries. The sisters had to go so we finished our meal with them. After our meal the zone leaders left and itīs just the other 2 missionaries and us. My companion wanted to show them the bathrooms here, they really are very nice bathrooms, you can flush the toillet paper and everything!?!?! Oh, they also have warm water mmmm. Now keep in the mind all the waitresses here are gorgeous. Well, as we were walking into the bathroom my companion makes this angelic entrance sound as he opens the door. Lo and behold we find a waitress in there cleaning the bathroom, we all break out laughing and she just waves at us, and we go and stand outside the door and wait for her to finish. Needless to say both parties found it quite funny, especially if you can imagine 4 americans in this country doing that hehe.

After we had just done that we were walking out and another waitress was cleaning the windows, one of the elders asks her if she would go inside and get all the others so we could take a picture with them out here in front of wendyīs. She actually went in to do it!!! We were excited for this and the elder was going to send the picture to all of us hehe. Alas, she came out and said they were all busy being that the place was full. How sad....

To wrap the day up we went and bought some pop tarts to celebrate the new year coming up. My comp and I can now officially say weīve cooked at pica pollo (pretty much a KFC run by chinese). It was fun with all the HUGE things of boiling oil and frying chicken and plantines hehe. The dominican workers just laughed at us.

Our neighbors below us decided to have a party the night of the 29th. They had bought a truck built of speakers and parked it towards our building and blasted music until about 2:30 AM, yeah....got lots of sleep that night. But to make that day better we taught kids to say, All Hail Brown (my companion) when they wanted candy. So we had a group of 10 kids yelling, ALL HAIL BROWN, ALL HAIL BROWN. That was fun LoL.

For the New year we all went to the top of our roof and watched all the drunk dominicans party and all the fireworks go off. We also ate our celebratory pop tarts hehe. Was pretty cool watching all the fireworks go off around the country, we had a great view from the top of our house.

I totally have more than 1 GR dollar now w00t....LoL
